ID Released For 24-Year-Old Struck, Killed By Pickup Truck In Hit-Run South Farmingdale Crash

The identity has been released of a victim in a hit-and-run Long Island crash.

The crash happened around 3:40 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 28  in South Farmingdale in the area of 116 Merrits Road.

Responding Nassau County Police officers found a man lying in the roadway with severe head trauma.

A short-bed silver-and-gray pickup truck struck the victim and left the scene before the officers' arrival, according to Nassau County Police. 

A Nassau County PD ambulance transported the victim to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead by a physician shortly after arrival. 

On Tuesday, Jan. 30, Nassau County Police identified the victim as Mohamed Elromi, age 24, from Astoria, Queens.

The investigation is ongoing.
